The Federation of Dance Competitions

The Federation of Dance Competitions (FDC), is a non profit organization started in 2007. It is comprised of 13 competitions with a singular mission to recognize dance excellence in the competition world. The FDC is constantly searching for multiple ways to “give back” to the dance world, to help evolve competition elements, listen to the studio director’s needs, as well as reward the many who tirelessly inspire and empower young dancers to achieve their goals.
The FDC members follow their own business practices in the best mutual interest of students, parents, choreographers, and teachers but adhere to code of ethics for dance competitions.
FDC Pinnacle Cup
The FDC awards points at each Regional Dance Competition towards the FDC Pinnacle Cup. There are 6 US Regions and 1 International Region. Your region is based on the physical address of your studio, regardless of where you compete.
The Top International Studio will be invited to the Annual FDC Gala. For more information, please see – Pinnacle Cup details.
People's Choice AwardOne FDC Peoples Choice Award routine is nominated at every single regional dance competition. A video of each nominee’s routine will be posted on the FDC Web Site throughout the season. The winners will be selected based on the number of online votes a video receives. Online voting will take place for two weeks in June. Check back for dates or watch for updates on Facebook and Twitter. One winner will be selected from each of the 13 FDC members. Thunderstruck will invite the highest voted nominee (i.e. a studio director & one guest) from across all our North American Regional Competitions to represent us at the Annual FDC Gala, so get out there and vote for your favourite routine! Atelier de danse Carol Brouard from our Thunderstruck Canada Ottawa Dance Competition won in 2011 for their routine “Rude”. |

World Dance Championship Series
The World Dance Championship Series (WDCS) is a one of its kind, invitation only, dance championship. The Top Small Groups and Large Groups from across the continent will compete head-to-head to determine the undisputed World Dance Champion in each age division. The championship will be held annually as part of the FDC Annual Gala (typically early August) and will include both Small and Large Group routines in the Petite (8 and under), Junior (9-11), Teen (12-14) and Senior (15-19) age divisions. To be eligible, routines must have placed in the Top 5 overalls at a minimum of (2) FDC Regional Competitions.
